Online jewellery stores are great for convenience and choice, from the latest trends in silver rings for women to finding outfit transforming silver necklaces. Forget the stress of the high street, and browse endless collections from any location and at any time. Whether on your smartphone, tablet or other device, buy amazing jewellery with ease.
One reason people have avoided online jewellery retailers is the issue of ring sizing. Not all of us are aware of our finger size to start with and as certain rings may suit different fingers, it is little wonder that it seems a hard task.
At The Opal, we have many beautiful silver stacking rings to choose from and to help you get the ring of your dreams, here are 3 easy methods for checking your ring size at home.
1. Ring sizing with a piece of string
Most of us have some string or dental floss lying around at home. This can be the easiest way to measure your ring size. Not only is it convenient but it is also cheap.
The first step is to wrap the string around the thickest part of your finger. With a pen, mark the point that the strings end meets.
After measuring the size of the string with a ruler, match it up to a ring size chart. Look at the closest match and that will provide you with the best size to fit you!
2. Ring sizing with paper strips
Ok, so no string and you’re out of dental floss not to worry you can use paper strips.
The first step is to use a thin strip of paper and wrap it around your finger. Ensuring the paper is placed below the knuckle will provide you with more accurate results. Where the paper strip meets, mark with a pen.
Use a ruler to measure the inches or cm and convert using the ring size chart.
3. Drawing around an existing ring
This method is great if you’re buying for someone else as a surprise gift and want to be sure the ring fits.
Borrow a ring from the person you are buying for, but be sure it still fits them and is for a finger they would like a new right for. This is important because some people have favourite rings they always like to wear.
Once you have borrowed the ring, draw around it and carefully measure to find the most accurate sizing. To get the measurement you can use methods 1 or 2, measuring your drawing. Although this may not be the most convenient method, it can still provide you with a good indication of sizing.
Things to consider with rings
There are a couple of things to bear in mind when measuring your ring size. Sizes of our fingers will change throughout the year. You want to measure your ring size at a comfortable time perhaps the end of the day. If your size comes up between sizes, it is always better to order a larger size just in case. This will account for any weight fluctuations and provide flexibility.
Lastly, consider the finger that you may be wearing the ring on, or if you want to stack rings as this will affect the sizing. If you are hoping to switch your ring across to a different finger, a size up may be beneficial.
